The Call to the Conversation
Today, we look around and see a world with escalating conflicts, increasing polarity, and competing truths. Narratives of loss and processes of dehumanization are being accepted as part of our everyday lives. It seems like some of the divides we face are too big to cross.
But if we look back in history, we can find stories of times when conflicts led to a new future. ''In our every deliberation, we must consider the consequences for the next seven generations.” This teaching was part of the new story that ended a long war between the Native American tribes that became known as the Iroquois Confederacy. The Confederacy created a system of governance that eventually became the model for the birth of the United States, a model that seems to have been forgotten in today’s modern politics. In a world where we are busy “othering” those we feel are different to us, it can feel as though life is a struggle and we consistently need to protect ourselves. The doorways close when we are wondering whether we are the next in line for attack or seeing that no one is listening to anyone else. How then, do we ensure our agency and change our collective story? How do we harness the power of the collective to move forward, together? Alongside practitioners and participants from around the world, we will explore the following questions:
