Story of the Opening Evening by Christine Jama, Stéphanie Heckman and Eileen van Ligten
"The moment of uncertainty before you dive into this new world. The moment when you first arrive in the circle and feel the collective energy. The moment when you feel safe and as is you are exactly where you need to be. The moment where you know: This is going to be a very special journey. So I will open my heart and be ready to receive." - Christine Jama
We start the training with a history of the Art of Hosting in Karlskrona. This year is a year of celebrations: 10 years Art of Hosting training in Karlskrona, 15 years of MSLS, and 30 years of BTH! The organizing team tell the story of how they created the calling question of this year “How can we build our capacity to co-create the world we want to live in as humans, communities, organizations, and citizens of Earth?”
We check in with going around the big circle each of us speaking our name, to introduce each and every voice into the room. We continue with a ‘System Mapping’ session, where we’re asked to take a position according to where you were born and where you now live. When we’re back in the big circle we are also asked who’s been to an AoH training before; those people take a step forward. “And who’s been to two or more trainings?” those people take another step forward. “These people are resources, with knowledge and experience of what we’re abut to step into here. Use them!”
Then we are taken on an overview of the ‘flow of the days’ through the visual landscape that’s already been created, hearing highlights here and there of what’s in store for us. The Sign Up Matrix is introduced to us. Encouraged to learn by stepping into practice, we get to choose from many options which are all ‘pitched’ to us by the different hosts; any of all the methodologies we will experience the coming days, including check in and check out circles; offering a morning practice or joining the space and beauty team; and signing up for various harvesting roles. We end with our first round of Village News, with the questions “What do you need?” and “What do you offer?” The checkout is one big clap with the whole group. Then everybody storms to the Sign Up sheet to pick where they want to push themselves to grow. A good start, getting our feet what for what promises to be an intensive three days ahead. See you tomorrow!
