Why Join Us?
We do not lack for good ideas or good intentions. We do not lack for the technology or the expertise to put those ideas into action. What we are missing, rather, are skills for meaningful conversation, participatory leadership, effective democratic practices and learning how to work collaboratively in emergence (and emergency!) to move into wiser action.

The Art of Hosting  is a highly effective approach for designing and hosting conversations that harness the collective wisdom and self-organizing capacity of a group and the  individuals in it.

During this four day training, you will learn how to work with a range of methods, thought models, and practices. Using an understanding of the underlying patterns of process design, we will practice tailoring and combining these tools and practices for the unique contexts of your work as a practitioner.

Who Should Come?
Picture
Do you see yourself as a changemaker and you’re looking for the practice and skills to support your work?
Do you want to be part of an organisation, group or community characterised by the way it embraces diversity, difference and innovation?
Do you recognize these patterns...
  • Well intentioned collaborations that fall apart because of lack of clarity, good process or connection among the partners?
  • Hours of meetings that lead to no action?
  • Good work that is derailed by silo thinking and political infighting?
  • Communities that are marked by consistent tension, difference of opinion, lack of dialogue or perhaps indifference or resignation?

If so, then this training is for you.

Whether you come from the private, public or NGO sector or are simply an engaged citizen, this cross sectoral training is a vibrant learning space where your thinking can expand, your projects can be honed and you can build lasting relationship that can support the impact of your work long into the future.

What’s the focus?
Every year a different set of calling questions shape the conversations of the training, reflecting the unique nature of what’s facing us in the world at this moment.

The calling questions
Reaching across the divisions in society
Building capacity for participatory leadership
March 2017 - Karlskrona - Sweden
''In our every deliberation, we must consider the consequences for the next seven generations''. This teaching was part of the new story that ended a long war between the Native American tribes that became known as the Iroquois Confederacy.

Today, we look around and see a world with escalating conflicts, increasing polarity, and competing truths. Narratives of loss and processes of dehumanization are being accepted as part of our everyday lives. We are therefore called to ask:

How might we reach across the deepening divisions in society?
* How are we each involved in the story of difference and division and how might we change it?
* What personal and collective capacities can support me and us in bridging these divides?
* How am I called to step forward now?
We are the source of what will exist in the future. We create the new story that the next seven generations will inherit. Let it be one of compassion, generosity, and wisdom. A story that begins the radically different world they will see.
