After everyone came from their personal or collective non-optional morning practice, we gathered in the Rotundan beautifully illuminated by the rising sun shining through the windows. We started the day by doing a meta harvest using body language to express how we feel about some of the learning threads. Following this we played the rope game where we could observe group dynamics and see how we interact when given a task of working together only using nonverbal communication. The atmosphere was great with lots of smiles, plenty of laughter, and of course curiosity for what was coming next.
It was Open Space! After a quick introduction to the rules, of which there are not many, everyone was eager to go out and explore the many topics emerging around us. Within long the Rotundan and surrounding area was buzzing with butterflies and bumblebees, getting in on conversation or just listening into what was said. Some topics were more light, others rather philosophical, others reflective and others more practical. The atmosphere felt very alive with people discussing methods, practical application and experiences, suggestions to make the Art of Hosting experience better for everyone, games, or simply connecting to nature, self and each other.
After the Open Space people seemed to be feeling relieved to have had meaningful conversations through which they gained inspiration and new insights for dreams and ideas. Having spent lunch enjoying vegan lasagna and some down time, we came back to the Rotundan to split up into groups and go on a Knowledge Expedition of the different expertise in the room. Some examples of what was offered are Non-Violent Communication, powerful questions, Cynefin, designing from harvest, and the personal applicability of the Theory U.
During Fika many used the break to talk about the previous group sessions while others relaxed and refueled for the upcoming teach about the 8-Breaths of Design. After learning about the eight breaths and its practical application, some participants then pitched their projects for Designing for Wiser Action - a method to tap into group intelligence to help with the design of a meeting or project they are planning. Then we all shared a moment of consciousness together with the evening sun shining through the windows and the waves reflecting the sunlight onto the ceiling creating a beautiful atmosphere. And then it came: The celebration dinner! The Masters of Ceremony did an amazing job of organizing the evening and decor - especially the “altar” was decorated beautifully and provided a stage setting for those fantastic poets, dancers and musicians who volunteered to share their gifts. After we finished the delicious food we started bonding even more and danced the night away to a lovely jam session. I think everyone will remember this evening for a long time to come.
